Discover a Balanced Daily Routine

Using astrology and understanding of our nature, we can discover a balanced daily routine that is spiritually fulfilling.

The wheel of astrology reveals twelve vital aspects of life. In summary, they are:
self, resources, conversation, home, fun, responsibilities, relationships, cycles, discovery, accomplishments, community, and the subconscious.

At different times, varying amounts of energy will be flowing into each aspect of life.

Through each season of life, we invest varying levels of energy into each category. Additionally, we have our own special calling. Each of us will go about life in a unique way that can be readily understood through astrology. Astrology is incredibly detailed and has many useful applications.

For better or for worse, I believe that all twelve aspects of life become integrated into our daily routines. Even if “fun” is complaining that we were not having fun, or reminiscing about times when life was more fun. If we become aware of our mindset, we can change what we experience. Meditation can help you become more mindful, but this article aims to help you in mapping out the pieces of your life.

Begin Customizing your Routine

The goal is to get to a place where work is enjoyable, exercise is rejuvenating, and proper care is given to our own needs.

Moderation, understanding oneself, and being proactive is key to success in discovering a balanced daily routine.

Wind Down

Truly, your day begins with the wind-down activities from the previous day. This is important because peaceful sleep empowers you to thrive. Unfortunately, it can be challenging to achieve relaxation.

Steps to Wind Down:

  • Stop using all electronic screens at least one hour before bed time
  • Put your thoughts away. This can be done through a symbolic or meditative exercise like journaling.
Contact Penny if you have questions.
  • Release any energy that is stuck in your body; this can be done through yoga, dance, or any exercise that allows energy to flow through your body
  • Go to bed clean

  • Change into comfy pajamas
  • Use relaxing breathing
You can book a session with Penny to explore various methods of pranayama (enhancing the life force).
  • Try Yoga Nidra
This yogic sleep state improves symptoms of PTSD as well as chronic pain.

Wake Up

Think of waking up as a progress report, for the success of your winding down routine.

After sleeping, your body is likely to be stiff. Go ahead and give it some gentle, loving movements.

You may want to set an alarm that will automatically play an exercise video or a song that you like.

Exercises for Waking Up:

Athletic individuals may choose to start the day with their favorite sport or fitness routine. Just be sure to start where you are at by warming up and listening to your body.

Boost Your Energy

Do not drink coffee first thing in the morning. If you like coffee, consider replacing it with an herbal beverage, hot chocolate (you can use cocoa powder to give it a more strong flavor, control the sugar content, and avoid unnecessary additives), or some other fun drink!

Energizing Breathe
Energizing pranayama techniques include kapalabhati, bhastrika, and sheetali. If you have high blood pressure, an injury, or are pregnant, then you should avoid kapalabhati and bhaskrtika, instead focusing on sheetali, the breathe of joy, or another means of boosting your energy.

Lion’s Breathe can be energizing as well.

Motivating Yourself if Depressed

If you are depressed or have low energy in the morning, then you need something to look forward to when you wake up.

A special tea that you have only in the mornings (like this Buhanese Butter Tea) or a favorite food that you are only allowed to eat in the mornings, can provide necessary incentive and something to look forward to.

In my Buhanese butter tea, I like to use Ghee instead of butter. Ghee is believed to have profound spiritual affects, according to the Ministry of Ayush.

Butter tea will not be the answer for everyone… it really just needs to be something motivating, fun (or tasty) that you can look forward to. Looking at the ruler of your 12th house can provide more insight. Here is a series of tutorials on
how to read your chart.

Counter-Balance

Counter-balance means putting weight on the opposite end of the seesaw. This is how we maintain equilibrium and keep life fun!

If you work on the computer, then your neck and shoulders will need a break. Your eyes also need a break from looking at screens.

If you work in construction, then it will likely be your whole body that needs a break.

Every pose in yoga has a counter pose. This is actually what gives you that yummy feeling after finishing a class! By using counter-balance in your daily routine, you can achieve the same yummy sensation in daily life.

fitting exercise into your daily routine

Exercise

By exercising, you are taking care of
Your Self and Your Health

This can also be an opportunity for:
Socializing, Conversation, Fun, Intimacy, Cycling through Energy, Discovery, Accomplishment, Community, and Subconscious Energy Clearing

Depending on your inclinations, you may wish to include all of these, none of these, or only a few into your exercise regime. Depending on your personality, working out alone may be more enjoyable than working out in groups. Likewise, while discovering new things is exciting and motivating to some, it can be stress-inducing and de-motivating for others.

Sometimes we struggle to understand what motivates us. Thankfully, astrology provides a great framework for reference.

making time to read

Study

The beginning of one’s career marks the foundation for learning. The continuance of education marks true passion. (I feel like I should be quoting someone here, but that is what I just came up with.)

Learning can be a source of personal fulfillment. The ruler of your 9th house will tell you much more about what it means to enjoy the discovery of learning.
Svadhyaya in yoga is the necessary teaching of the importance in studying oneself, which includes studying our origins and religion.

Learning about science can be a profound spiritual experience, connecting us to creation.

Study is about much more than acquiring; it’s about experiencing.

Ideally, we make time for study every single day.

Vocation

What you do for work is a huge and important part of your personal calling. Cultivating a meaningful and fulfilling relationship with your work is important for achieving a spiritually balanced existence.

Work can connect you with many different aspects of life, including:
Socialization, wellness, discovery, community, and much more… the possibilities are really endless.

making time for philanthropy

Philanthropy

Although we may not always understand the ways in which we are all interconnected, it is in our best interest to make time for helping others.

What we have to give will likely be so catastrophically different from what we personally are in need of, that it may really blow our minds when we realize that other people are in need of something that we have in abundance.

There is something we can each give freely, with no worry, because we will never run out. This channel flows through us like an endless stream.

For most people this stream of abundance is not financial… It could be an emotional contribution, wisdom, social energy, physical energy or prowess, trustworthiness, comedy, or a love for children or animals. Maybe it is simply reasonable advice.

The spirit of generosity is contagious, and like attracts like.

Writing a blog or starting a Youtube channel could be your philanthropic contribution.

Family

Family means something different for everyone.

Regardless of who is or is not in your family, life will be at its richest when you make time for the people who are important to you.

Each individual personal in your family needs one on one time with you.

The entire family unit can take trips together or have a series of weekly activities and daily rituals that support the bonds of the family unit, but you also need one on one time.

Fun

What is FUN?

Oh my gosh… some of us might feel like we have no idea!

Look at the ruler of your 5th house to gain deeper understanding.

Regardless of what FUN means for you, it is crucial that you embody this sense of joy for at least thirty minutes a day!

With a good and balanced routine, every single aspect of your life can begin to embody fun.

Chores

Spontaneous moments of song and dance, furious rages of de-stressing, and tranquil moments of inner peace can all be embodied in your daily cleaning ritual.

This is how you can make chores therapeutic.
